What is a Certificate of Deposit (CD)?

By definition: A Certificate of Deposit (CD)
A fixed-income debt security issued by most chartered banks, usually in minimum denominations of $1000 (sometimes less) with maturity terms of one to six years.

If you do not expect to spend your money anytime soon, this is a good way to earn extra money in intrest.
