What is Computer Networking?

By definition: Computer Networking is a system for communication among two or more computers. These networks may be permanent (cabled) or temporary (accessable through modems).

If one computer in your home has a nice printer and another one has a nice scanner, you can network the two computers so that each can use both devices. You can also access files on another computer.
